<note>Osteoarthritis is the most common type of arthritis. The aims of this study was to analyze drug utilization profile based on clinical data and to identify the drug related problems in osteoarthritis patients. This research was observational study by using the retrospective method and the descriptive analysis. The sample was entire patients in ambulatory and hospitalized at Dr. Ramelan Navial Hospital Surabaya with osteoarthritis diagnosed with or without underlying disease or 
complication. The sample period was from Januari 1st 2006 until May 31st 2008 that fulfilling inclusion criteria (N = 54). Patient's profile were 65,2 % females and 34,8 % males from ambulatory patients, while from hospitalized patients were 50 % females and 50 % males. The results showed that drug utilization profile in osteoarthritis patients were analgetics and antiinflammatory drugs including meloxicam (77,8 %), sodium diklofenac (61,1 %), piroxicam (24,1 %), mefenamic acid (7,4 %), ketoprofen (5,5 %), ibuprofen (1,8 %), and aspirin (1,8 %). Non opioid analgetic (paracetamol) was applied by 1,8 % patients. Adjuvant analgetics were diazepam (53,7 %) and alprazolam (11,1 %). While DMOADs were glukosamin (48,1 %) and sodium hyaluronat (1,8 %), DMARDs (sulfasalazin) was applied by 18,5 % patients and corticosteroids were methyl prednisolone (18,5 %), prednisone (7,4 %), triamsinolone (1,8 %), and dexametasone (1,8 %). Therapy for prevention and treatment of GIT disorders were antacid (13 %), ranitidine (11,1 %), cimetidine (1,8 %), omeprazole (1,8 %), and metoclopramid (1,8 %). The drug related problems mostly occurred was GIT disorders (38,9 %).</note>
